Birth Center
Having a baby is one of the most life-changing events you'll ever experience. At Sonora Regional Medical Center, we'll help you through labor and delivery in an environment where you'll not only feel safe, but also well cared for. We strive to make sure your physical, emotional and spiritual needs are met, and that your baby has a wonderful, healthy start. And once you go home, we provide you with the knowledge and confidence to take care of your baby so you both can Live Well and Be Well.
A team of licensed nurses and support staff will care for you and your baby throughout your stay. Obstetricians, family practice physicians and pediatricians are available 24 hours a day for any medical needs that may arise, and comfort measures during your stay are individualized to meet your needs.
Our Birth Center was designed with your comfort in mind. Birthing suites feature Jacuzzi tubs, in-room accommodations for your support person, tranquil views of the Foothills and a rocking chair for rocking baby (or anyone) to sleep.
The Medical Center also provides a safe and secure environment for you and your baby using a state-of-the-art newborn security system, and education on how to keep your baby safe.
When your baby arrives, family bonding begins. You will decide how much time your baby spends with you. Twenty-four hour rooming-in is encouraged, but if your baby is in the nursery, rest assured that he or she will be receiving constant personal and safe care.
When it's time to take your baby home, we want you to feel ready. Our comprehensive education program, provided by a team of multi-disciplined professionals including social services, nutritional specialists, and spiritual care providers, will share with you the information you need to take care of your baby–and yourself–at home.
Whether you choose to breast-feed your baby or another alternative, our staff will assist you with education and support to meet your baby's needs. Lactation education is also available to assist you with any problems that may arise.
