Sonora Regional Cancer Center brings together three power services—medical oncology, radiation oncology and infusion services—under one roof. To find out more, call us at 536-5155.

Also located in the Cancer Center and adjacent to the infusion center, is the Breast Health Center, which features web-based research access, an audio/visual and print library, and a comfortable, nonclinical space for women to go for breast health information and support.

Medical Oncology

Our medical oncology team manages every aspect of your treatment, providing comprehensive cancer care and services. We will coordinate your individual needs with our staff of highly trained, experienced and caring oncologists, physicians, certified oncology nurses, support professionals and care providers. We’ll do everything possible to ensure your comfort and quell your concerns. We are your partners. We are very good at fighting cancer, and fighting for you.

Our board-certified oncologists have a vast knowledge of all aspects of the treatment of cancer including chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy, and will determine the best course for you. Often, chemotherapy will be combined with another form of treatment to give you the best possible outcome. We’ll answer all of your questions and provide all of the physical, emotional and spiritual support you need.

We also have a tumor board that meets once a week to review cancer cases as a team. Our goal is to ensure you’re receiving the best treatment and care possible, and to stay current on oncology issues and developments throughout the state.

 

Radiation Oncology

 

Radiation Oncology has returned to Sonora Regional Cancer Center!

Radiation oncology has been a common treatment for cancer since the 1950s. Radiation therapy specifically targets cancer cells that quickly reproduce. Over the past five decades the technology has changed remarkably, and today, image-guided radiation therapy produces better outcomes for patients.

Sonora Regional Medical Center uses a state-of-the-art Siemans ONCOR™ Expression Linear Accelerator to provide this precise, targeted radiation therapy. With the ONCOR system, we offer shorter treatment times and greater patient comfort. ONCOR has a table that can be elevated to help you position better. Its unique lifting mechanism and exceptional mechanical strength enables us to treat patients who weigh up to 550 pounds. While we won’t be in the room with you during the actual procedure, we will be in constant communication with you to keep you informed and to put you at ease.

By having your radiation therapy at Sonora Regional, you not only receive the very best treatment possible but you are also close to home, with family and friends nearby. And that can be a comforting thought.

 

Infusion Services

The Community Infusion Center provides cancer patients with chemotherapy treatments by registered nurses who are certified through the Oncology Nursing Society in the administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy. In addition, the nurses have numerous hours of continual education in the care of cancer patients.

In addition to cancer care, the infusion center serves patients who come to the clinic for blood transfusions, intravenous antibiotics, therapeutic phlebotomy, and various other treatments for rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis.
