Who We Are
Community Benefits
At Sonora Regional Medical Center, our passion is health—in all of its forms. Whether you have the flu, are giving birth, battling cancer or have an emergency that could find you fighting for your life, we are deeply committed to putting our team of caring professionals to work for you, so you can Live Well and Be Well.
We know the community we serve and understand the county’s family income diversity. That’s why in 2007 we expanded the services of Project HOPE, a free mobile health clinic. Twice a week, a nurse practitioner is available—free of charge—to provide you and your family with check-ups, sports-physicals, and blood pressure checks—just like a visit to your personal physician. Whether you are without a medical plan, have a high deductible, or just need to see a practitioner right away, Project HOPE can give you just that, hope for health care.
Project HOPE is just one of the many ways we provide access to health care to everyone. Other ways we’ve helped low-income patients this past year:
• Contributed $19 million in free and low-cost care to patients
• Provided free and low costs screening including: 3,685 blood screening tests, 1,256 Prostate Antigen blood tests, 882 blood pressure checks, bone density and asthma screenings
• Purchased a new 37-foot healthvan for project HOPE, our free health clinic on wheels, which provided 1,016 free health screenings two days a week—a 70 percent increase from 2006
• Faith Community Nursing provided 2,823 health related encounters, and provided 3,000 hours of volunteer time
• Established new Rural Health Clinic including primary, specialty and dental services for the underserved
• Raised $50,000 for Cancer Patient Support Fund and held Cancer Patient Victory Celebration attended by 100 survivors and family members
• Provided free first aid care at several community events
As a faith-based, not-for-profit organization, our mission has always been to reach out to the underserved in our community. We continue that tradition today through new and innovative health outreach programs.

Each year, Sonora Regional Medical Center submits a document to the State of California that presents the activities and outcomes of the medical center’s efforts to improve the community’s overall health status. This is in compliance with the State of California’s Community Benefit Law SB 697, required for not-for-profit hospitals. A copy of the current document submitted to the state is available for download here.
