Project HOPE
Through the help of a very generous community, Sonora Regional Medical Center has realized a longstanding goal of purchasing a new healthvan.
Healthvan Two, not to be confused with the 30-year-old Healthvan One, rolled into town from the La Boit factory in Ohio in time to be branded and make its debut at the 2007 Tuolumne County Health Fair.
Healthvan Two is a 37 foot medical clinic on wheels and features two exam rooms, a reception room, bathroom, wheelchair lift, and automatic side awning. It will be used for Project HOPE, the medical center’s free clinic offered at Wal-Mart twice a week.
Proceeds for the purchase of Healthvan Two came from funds raised at the annual Golf Classic and from a $50,000 gift from the Darren Lee Farwell Foundation.
Healthvan Two can be accessed through Project HOPE on Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Christi Peterson, FNP is the on-board practitioner.
